About RHA

Our History

RHA was founded in 1992 by its President, Michael A. Smith and Dr.Donald Geldart of Avon Park Florida. Mike had 12 years experience with Medicare and served as Manager of Medical Review and had responsibility for Rural Health Clinics in eight Southeastern states. He has a thorough knowledge of coverage issues, cost reimbursement, Medicare regulations and the conditions of participation as applicable to rural health clinics.
RHA has clinics in five states, Alabama Florida, Illinois, Indiana and North Carolina, RHA has assisted more than 70 clinics in becoming certified. Many of those clinics are owned by Physician Assistants.

Our Mission

First, to provide quality technical assistance to certified rural health clinics enabling them to comply with Federal and State guidelines and regulations and to ensure that the clinic's reimbursement rate remains consistent throughout the course of the fiscal year.
Second, to assist rural health clinics with day to day problem resolution associated with coverage issues, billing, and clinic operations.
Third, to assist hospitals, physicians, mid-level practitioners, community based organizations and entrepreneurs with the process of certifying clinics in the Rural Health Clinic Program.
